Gift Set For Twins

It's not everyday that I get asked to make gifts for twins. Actually, I don't think that has ever happened. So you can imagine my excitement when I was asked to do this. I was actually at Joann Fabrics when I got the call and my number was about to be called to go to the cutting table and I had to pass (my poor 3 year old gets stuck in a cart there for an hour sometimes), and find the perfect coordinating fabrics for my projects. I usually embellish reusable diapers for burp cloths, and find pre-made bibs and applique them. Not so unique as I would like. So I decided to change things up this time.

First, I made burp cloths with batting and flannel. I like when things look a little aged, so I left raw edges on these so they will hopefully fray a little after being washed. I got this idea from a super talented friend recently at a baby shower, and let me tell you, these burp cloths are probably going to be the most absorbant ones this woman will have. They are awesome! If you don't want raw edges, you could easily just sew it inside out first, or if you are super lucky and have a serger, you could just serge the edges.

Next I made two matching bibs. These are so awesome! I wish I had these when Luke was a baby. I followed a super easy tutorial from made-by-rae.com. You can find the tutorial here. These are probably the best bibs ever! I love how it can catch all of the messy food just by snapping up the bottom.

I also made two matching construction appliqued onsies. I had some of this fabric left over from the quilt I am working on for Luke. I love how they match, but they aren't identical. I am a sucker for high contrast stitching. I think it makes such a big impact! And once again I left a little room on the end so they will fray once washed.

And last I threw in a keychain that sort of matches the color scheme so that this new mommy of two won't lose her keys. It fits right around your wrist and is super cute too!

I am so in love with this gift set! I have been making a lot of girl items lately, so it was a nice change of pace to make new items for boys.

It was hard though to finish these projects with this cutie in your face.

Thanks for checking out my post! And I love comments, so go ahead and leave one!
