Busy Little Bee

Oh my word! I have so many half finished projects on my sewing table right now it's ridonculous! I have been so busy with my son and other activities I haven't had time to just knock them out.

Last night (roughly 12 a.m), I finished a few of my projects. Now I can breathe a little easier and hopefully focus better to finish all the other freshly pressed, pinned, and cut projects that have been longingly staring at me waiting for their turn to get finished.

So here is what I have been working on:

A new Birdie Bib that I made using this fabulous new fabric I got.

Two new Tie Tees made from some more new fabric from the same line.

And finally a new purse for ME! (Every once in a while you have to actually make something for yourself!)

I am in love with this pattern! Can't wait to take it out in this gorgeous California weather and show it off!

Well I hope everyone enjoys their weekend and takes some time to play!

Gift Set For Twins

It's not everyday that I get asked to make gifts for twins. Actually, I don't think that has ever happened. So you can imagine my excitement when I was asked to do this. I was actually at Joann Fabrics when I got the call and my number was about to be called to go to the cutting table and I had to pass (my poor 3 year old gets stuck in a cart there for an hour sometimes), and find the perfect coordinating fabrics for my projects. I usually embellish reusable diapers for burp cloths, and find pre-made bibs and applique them. Not so unique as I would like. So I decided to change things up this time.

First, I made burp cloths with batting and flannel. I like when things look a little aged, so I left raw edges on these so they will hopefully fray a little after being washed. I got this idea from a super talented friend recently at a baby shower, and let me tell you, these burp cloths are probably going to be the most absorbant ones this woman will have. They are awesome! If you don't want raw edges, you could easily just sew it inside out first, or if you are super lucky and have a serger, you could just serge the edges.

Next I made two matching bibs. These are so awesome! I wish I had these when Luke was a baby. I followed a super easy tutorial from made-by-rae.com. You can find the tutorial here. These are probably the best bibs ever! I love how it can catch all of the messy food just by snapping up the bottom.

I also made two matching construction appliqued onsies. I had some of this fabric left over from the quilt I am working on for Luke. I love how they match, but they aren't identical. I am a sucker for high contrast stitching. I think it makes such a big impact! And once again I left a little room on the end so they will fray once washed.

And last I threw in a keychain that sort of matches the color scheme so that this new mommy of two won't lose her keys. It fits right around your wrist and is super cute too!

I am so in love with this gift set! I have been making a lot of girl items lately, so it was a nice change of pace to make new items for boys.

It was hard though to finish these projects with this cutie in your face.

Thanks for checking out my post! And I love comments, so go ahead and leave one!

I love my family!

So we recently bought a new Macbook pro and have discovered the awesomeness of photo booth! This is borderline dangerous for our family since we can't seem to contain ourselves we get so giddy, and continue to take absolutely ridiculous pictures.

Here are a few snapshots we took:
My son testing it out.

Then we did the logical thing, and invited my sister-in-law over to play take pictures.

And then something epic happened.....we discovered the SECOND PAGE!!!

(*Please prepare for semi-disturbing images)

I will spare you the rest of the images, where we either look alien-ish, deformed, or just plain funny looking.

I will be honest, I wasn't very productive that entire day. But I love making memories like this with my family. We are a quirky bunch and I love them for it!

P.S. I grabbed this awesome photo over at Two Shades of Pink, and she has a couple of other super cute photos that you can grab for your own blog!

Hope you take some time today to just be silly!
